Lately Loving: Music #2

I feel as though I've hit a goldmine over the past month or so with music- I've just been loving new music left, right and centre- so I thought I'd share the love and write up a little playlist for all of you guys. I like to think that I've included a little something for everyone but, as a disclaimer, I'm afraid heavy metal and screamo fans will not be amused.

1. The "I dare you not to dance" number: Paramore- Ain't It Fun (Lianne Kaye, Jackie D Williams, Ebony Day, Dawson). This never fails to cheer me up if I'm feeling a little low, and I just find it to be a particularly uplifting song! Speaking of Paramore.. Zedd ft. Hayley Williams- Stay The Night (Acoustic) deserves a mention, if not only to publicly recognise Zedd as a potential crush. Yep, those eyes are hauntingly real. *Swoon*

2. On the other hand, it's impossible not to have a huge girl crush on Banks. If you need justification, just go right ahead and listen to This Is What It Feels Like. You can thank me later.

3. Getting reading for a night out? Turn your ear over to The Futureheads- Hounds of Love- well hello there, echoes of Alex Turner.. seriously, who knew the Arctic Monkeys have a doppleganger? Worth checking out if you're an AM fan.

4. Beyonce Medley- Mitch & Scott. If you've still not heard this, crawl out and get listening! Mitch and Scott are absolutely hilarious, awesome singers and also two of my favourite people on earth so if you don't like this then I probably won't like you. (Kidding! Kind of..)

5. Throwback to being a 90s' kid- JT was the only good thing about NSYNC. I have loved pretty much all of his music since his recent comeback, and this new-ish release Justin Timberlake: Not a Bad Thing is so damn catchy. Linked to the live version for obvious 'Justin Timberlake is serenading me.. gah!' reasons.

6. I'm a big fan of Reload's 'Listen' Mondays. Tourist ft. Will Heard- Can't Keep Up is a firm favourite for some background vibes, although my younger brother has taken to blaring this out and screaming a particular line from the track. Can you guess which?

7. I love Half Moon Run. When they were in the UK recently, they covered Chvrches' Mother We Share. Harmonica lovers, this one's for you. Yeah I'm catering for everyone right here.

8. Going back to my Irish roots, I can't not mention a golden oldie, Steve Earle's Galway Girl. If this doesn't make you want to visit Ireland and be serenaded by Gerard Butler then, quite frankly, I don't know what will.

9. For the R&B lovers out there, SoMo's album dropped a couple of days ago. I've been replaying I'd Do It All For You and it's definitely fast becoming my favourite from the album. One word to describe it? Funky.

10. No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses is the kind of song that I can just imagine listening to in my future apartment as a wind down after a stressful day at work, whilst holding a glass of wine (I don't drink alcohol), and watching the puppy that I don't yet have race around the living room. It's the good kind of weird.

11. Along a similar vein, Sort of Revolution by Fink is incredibly calming- unsurprising for fans of Fink. I first heard Perfect Darkness a few years back and have been hooked ever since.

12. I don't want to say that I'm saving the best 'til last but, really, I probably am. Sam Smith's Money on my Mind is pretty darn good. If he's not on your radar, he definitely needs to be. He also covered 'Berlin' by RY X and it's definitely worth checking out, he is just vocally flawless and his range is in-saaaane.

Also, I have to include a special mention to Kevin Bacon's Footloose Entrance on the Tonight Show- there are no words. I think that's about it- my top twelve (plus a few extra) listens. Ultimately, I hope you come away with at least one new musical discovery from this post! What music have you been loving lately?

The Sunday Post: Weekly Round Up #4

I have been busy squirrelling away over the past couple of weeks with new things- so I totally forgot to take an actual realtime photograph for this post. Enjoy this Christmassy backdrop with a super artsy(!) text edit for this edition of Weekly Round Up.. I'll do better next time.

Product of the week: I've got to hand it to my well loved Trilogy rosehip oil this week for keeping my face in check (as much as it can). I decided to experiment with Pai's rosehip oil last week and we did not get along at all- it may have been my skin 'adjusting' to it but I'm not about to hang around for long enough to find out.

Top Listen: There's a music playlist coming your way this week- yay!- so I won't give too much away but here's a little something to tide you over. The video doesn't do much for me at all (male chest fondling? Yeah, no), but the actual song never fails to calm me down on long car journeys and the like.

Vlogger of the Week: Whaaaaat?! I've not included Karima on my blog before?! Madness. I discovered Karima's blog and YouTube channel sometime last year and she is just the best. She's so quirky and funny but she really, really knows her stuff- her blog is equally amazing. Check it out here.

Blog of the Week: Hellz to the yes. It's a double dosage of vloggy/blogger goodness for you guys this week. For any fellow bakers at heart, you just have to read Emma's blog. It's just really rad and makes me want to bake things and stuff. Although as we all know, my procrastination levels are too high to actually follow through.

Top read: I've been reading 'The Rosie Project' by Graeme Simsion and getting really into it because it's such an easy read. It tells the story of professor Don Tillman who is consciously unlucky in love due to his strict criteria for his ideal partner- and how one woman changes everything. It's heartwarming, funny, emotional at times... and I still don't know how it ends because I stopped reading about fifty pages from the end. I'm holding off from finishing the book because I just don't want to finish it yet.

What have you been loving this week?
